2024 Charity List
October 25, 2024 | Blog
Each year we publish a Charity List of reviewed organizations to coincide with Giving Tuesday, and the start of the holiday season. Giving Tuesday is an annual global movement of generosity.
The Charity List is a compilation of organizations supported throughout the year by all of our donors through the Place2Give Foundation and our consulting clients through Karma & Cents. In many cases, these are agencies that we have reviewed and recommended based on a donor risk tolerance and/or the funding objectives of the donor.
If you are interested in supporting any one of these agencies, please visit the GIVE page at Place2Give where you can specify the charity you’d like to support. In addition, you can choose to support a fund that has outlined how it will be allocating the funds in the coming year.

Philanthropy planning conversations focus on the donation of “stuff” leading to deeper discussions (and a more important one), what does inheritance mean? This conversation seems to be reinforced during the holiday season when we are in the throws of “giving things” and considering the needs and wants of others. We encourage families to write out their charity list and see how things have changed over time. How do these organizations reflect your values? Have things shifted over time?
In working with clients, we explore the different types of assets at their disposal that can be integrated in a giving plan. We call these assets the 4 T’s – Time, Talent Treasures and Ties. When you consider your giving for the 2024 holiday season, aside from your wealth, how else can you tap into your time, your expertise and your network? We hope this charity list provides you with some starting places and reinforces the organizations you already support.
What we consider when reviewing a charity or project
We assess the following areas in relation to our clients’ overall philanthropic risk tolerance: governance, leadership, competitive landscape, program delivery, community engagement and financials. As practice we only look at the financials if the organization has met the standards in the other performance areas.
As with all of our work, this list is unique to the donors we worked with this year. These organizations meet the individual philanthropic objectives of the funders’. As such, this list is not an endorsement of an organization’s overall transparency or performance. A connection between a donor and a charity is based on the risk tolerance, project interest and objectives set out by our client.
